Prof Robert Hedges, Deputy Director of the Research Laboratory for Archaeology & the History of Art at the Unoversity of Oxford. He is holding a specimen of skin taken from the mummified body of Ötze (or Ötzi) the hunter who must have died in the Austrian Tyrol mountains. Prof Hedges was responsible for the dating of the samples to c. 3300 BCE.
