SPECT-brain-scan.jpg
SPECT (Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography) of the brain of a healthy 72-year-old patient, showing relative activity, as blood flow, with the coloured areas indicating brain activity. SPECT images are obtained by injecting a radionucleotide, in this case technetium-99m, into the bloodstream and measuring bood flow with a gamma camera and are used to provide information on localised funtion activity.
