Dr. Adrian Bowyer, mechanical engineer, inventor of the Reprap self-replicating machine, to be built and distributed on an 'open technology' basis, so that, by viral dissemination, it can find applications for prototyping and manufacture anywhere in the world. Using extruded thermoplastic polymer, it can fabricate three-dimensional objects from computer-generated informations and the machine has been designed in such a way that the Reprap is able to make most of the parts to replicate itself.
