Bowel Cancer Screening

Bowel cancer screening technician holds a test kit card submitted by a screening programme participant. The faecal samples on a guaiac-impregnated filter paper have been treated with hydrogen peroxide in the laboratory and one sample has reacted positively (blue colour) indicating the likely presence of blood and the need for further tests. Blue colouration above the specimens is a control, to ensure that the test is performing normally.
